My 2023 photo entries for the Big E are …

I can always count on the Big E for a chance at claiming display and silk. I’ve competed at the Big E for the past 11 years, and I’ve done quite well at their photography competitions.

So let’s see what images I can send this year.

Last year, my black-and-white shot of the Saratoga, Corinth & Hudson Railway crossing Route 9N claimed a beautiful blue ribbon.

So while all the other “Competition Season” locations get an SC&H image of their own …

I’m sending a different railroad photo towards the Big E.

And that one is …

CHRISTMAS IN HO-HO-HO SCALE

Here’s the thing. I really, really, really wanted to use Competition Season 2023 as a showcase for the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train photos I’ve captured over the years. And the arrival of the Holiday Train into Saint-Constant, Quebec will do nicely for this purpose. And if it works out well … I’ll repurpose the image for other competitions – that is, if I don’t get an even more incredible shot for this year’s CP (now CPKC) Holiday Train Chase.

The other entry, of course, is …

A BICOLOR SUNFLOWER

Figured this would get some love.

Okay. I submitted both entries for pre-judging, so I should receive an email from the Big E regarding my images. Let me check my email.

Ah. Here are the results. Here’s the info regarding the Holiday Train photo.

“Thank you for submitting your entry for the above division and class. Unfortunately, your entry was not chosen to advance for further judging or display.”

Wait … what??

Oh, that’s not good.

Okay. Let’s hope the Bicolor Sunflower at least gets some love. I mean … I’d like to keep this entry streak at the Big E going.

“Congratulations, the following photograph has been accepted for display for The Big E Creative Arts Photography! – A Bicolor Sunflower.”

Okay. Man, the Holiday Train got bounced in TWO different competitions … but at least the Bicolor Sunflower has a chance to pick up its second silk, this time at the Big E.

So let’s see how things go.
